New in Via! Introducing Milestones

We’ve officially launched milestones, a new function in Via designed to help your teams plan and execute projects with even more clarity. Here’s a brief overview of how milestones work and how to get the most out of this new feature.

What are milestones?
Previously in Via, task lists served as a bucket for related tasks. While task lists were helpful for organizing responsibilities across team members, we saw an opportunity in Via to raise the visibility of what’s actually getting done within a specific task list. The new milestone feature delivers the goods.

Milestones are significant stages or deliverables within a project. They help you think clearly about how to break a project down into smaller pieces and raise the visibility of your progress. Milestones are more than a loosely connected group of tasks; they represent completion of a specific phase or deliverable within a project.

What changed in Via?
In Via, all of your task lists are now milestones. Milestones are displayed in several key places:

  1. At the top of a task list (orange checkbox)
  2. On your dashboard calendar (orange checkbox)
  3. In the project view (Calendar tab, Milestones tab)
  4. In all project and task list templates
  5. In email and in-app notifications

Now, rather than creating a new “task list,” you’ll create a new milestone and add tasks like you have in the past.

What do I need to adjust in my Via?
You don’t need to do anything, other than take note of the new milestone function in Via. You may find, however, that milestones represent a substantial opportunity for your team to rethink how you’re planning projects and setting them up in Via.
